Summary of primary job functions
The Anti-Trafficking International (ATI) organization is a 501c3 that works to educate our youth, adults, and our community about the signs of human trafficking to keep our teenagers safe. We know that a well-informed public will decrease the ability of traffickers to operate and inspire victims and survivors to come forward and ask ATI for help. ATI’s ability to successfully carry out its mission is highly dependent on a cadre of volunteers with a wide variety of skills and abilities.

ATI is looking for a skilled, enthusiastic, savvy individual to serve as our deputy communications chief. This individual will be responsible for providing communications support and expertise to a portfolio of ATI programs and initiatives. Communications support includes, but is not limited to: media relations, social media strategy, marketing, web content development, community engagement, and video production. This person should enjoy developing and supporting strategic communications that tell the story of the ATI organization. This individual will protect the ATI brand.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level strategic support and advice to the Communications Chief.
  • Under the supervision of the Chief, help manage and direct:
    • partnerships with media alliances and the work of the Public Relations and Marketing teams.
    • the production of editorial content and work of the Writing & Research team, including ATI’s blog, newsletter e-blasts to subscribers, and e-magazine.
    • the work of the (Social) Media, Web, Graphic Design, and Audio/Visual Production teams.
    • Headquarters communication and advocacy support to program offices focusing on media outreach, in close consultation with the Chief.
    • Other duties as required.
  • Build relations with stakeholder groups inside and outside the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. ATI’s Development Department) to seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising.
  • Work with the ATI staff to effectively execute all matters of communications on behalf of departments and initiatives within a designated portfolio.
  • Secure positive press coverage of programs and initiatives within the portfolio.
  • Ensure major announcements and events have a comprehensive communication plan.
  • Support media relations, including responding to reporters, crafting statements, and drafting press releases on behalf of departments.
  • Support the selection of and management of external communications contracts with vendors, as needed.
  • Assist staff in departments and program offices in setting measurable communications goals and developing high quality content.
  • Other duties as required.



  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in public relations or a related field.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with both digital and traditional communications.
  • Experience crafting messaging and communications campaigns.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle simultaneous priority projects and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment with a primarily volunteer workforce and manage lateral reporting relationships.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
